According to a study by the Economic Research Service, 27% of all food production in Western nations ends up in garbage cans. Yet, 1,2 billion people are underfed – the same number of people who are overweight to the point of obesity.

Obesity basically is described as being approximately 20% over the recommended body weight. For instance, at 1,6 m (5’4″), a woman who is 54 kg (120 lb) is average. A 1,6 m (5’4″) woman who is 72 kg (160 lb) is obese. The main reason for obesity is said to be urbanization, which resulted in a general lack of regular exercise.
